GRE寫作模板五步練習法
開頭
In the argument, the …(主題對象) recommends that…(對結論做論述,基本上可以抄原文,用另外一種方式表達即可). To support this recommendation the argumentpoint out that …(說明文章用了什么論據去證明觀點了,同上抄襲即可) however …This argument is logicallyflawed in several critical respects (說明這篇文章邏輯上是有缺陷的) 。
攻擊論據
1. 調查結果沒有證據申明
To begin with, the argument depends on the assumption that…(闡述說出了一個沒有根據的申明,并說出文中的原因) —rather than for some other reasons. Yet it isentirely possible that… (說明這種猜測可能的原因) or some other factor. Without ruling outall other reasons why… (重述這個申明)…(說出反方向的結論) 。
2. 提到了樣本,但是數據不具有代表性(數據不夠)
Firstly, the author provides no evidence that the survey is statisticallyreliable. Perhaps the survey’s sample is not sufficient in size orrepresentative of the quality of …(說明對象的數量和質量不夠) For that matter, this survey isnot strong enough to establish causation between… (在這里列出原因和結果,做比較) However, theother reasons of the survey which (敘述其他原因下的情況). As a result, without theevidence that the survey is statistically reliable the author cannot justifiablydraw any conclusion by relying on this survey.
3. 猜測,但是沒有證據
Thirdly, the argument assumes that… (闡述文中的猜測) However, the letter providesno evidence to substantiate this assumption. In fact, the letter suggests thatthis might be the case. By admitting that …, the letter implies that…說明影響他們happy的因素還有其他的方面,不光是研究中所列舉 。
攻擊論證過程
1. 時間上的錯誤類比
To begin with,…(陳述某個數據) may not a reliable date of that rate would benow(和現在相比較是不可信的). Perhaps the… (反例),For that matter, perhaps…(說出反例的情況下會導致何種結果). In short, without ruling out other possible reasons for…(假設說出針對反例應該怎么做)the memo’s author cannot convince me on the basis of…(說出應該有的結論)

3. 兩個事實錯誤的類比
Even if…(讓步,即使某個條件成立) the argument unfairly assumes that…(說明錯誤的類比的情況). Itis entirely possible that the …(比較對象) own different situations. Perhaps…(具體說出反例) Without accounting for such differences between the two places isunreliable.
4. 錯誤的推論
Even if …(讓步,即使某個條件成立)the argument relied on the future assumption that…(說出要讓步的是事實). Yet the only evidence the argument offer to substantiate thisassumption (說出文中的根據). Perhaps …(說出有可能出現的其他情況導致這個事實)if so, (說出不一樣的結果,與上面事實相矛盾).Or…(其他的情況) In short, without more information about…(對上面的可能情況總結) wereestablished it is impossible to assess …(回到上面的結論) 。
結論的攻擊
說明結論不完美,可以有其他的方法
Finally, the argument fails to consider …(有更好的辦法實現目標). Perhaps by…(辦法一),orby (辦法二),(對目標進行展望) In short, without weighing the suggestion againstalternatives, it is unconvincing that (說明提供的方案不好) 。
贏利
Finally, even if the families support to build the new seafood restaurant,the restaurant would not necessarily be profitable as a result. Profitability isa function of both revenue and expense. Thus, it is quite possible that therestaurant’s costs of obtaining high-quality and healthy seafood or of newpromoting restaurant might render it unprofitable despite its popularity.Without weighing revenue against expenses the argument’s conclusion is prematureat best.
同時敘述兩個錯誤的論據
The memo also makes two hasty assumptions about …(說明兩個猜想相關的內容). One suchassumption is that …(第一個猜想的情況說明). It is entirely possible that …(反例). Anotherassumption is that(另外一個錯誤的猜想) Common sense informs me that (反例)
Furthermore, the difference in the two firms’ overall placement time lastyear does not necessarily indicate that Delany would be the better choice toserve XYZ’s laid-off employees. These employees might have particular skills orneeds that are not representative of the two firm’s clients in general. Besides,one year’s placement statistics hardly sufficient to draw any firmconclusions.
結尾段
In sum, the argument seems logical, but is based on nothing more than purespeculation and perhaps wishful thinking, yet lack of some warrantedinvestigation. To strength it, the author needs to evaluate all possiblealternatives and provide detail and comprehensive evidence before jumping to theconclusion that …(文中的結論)
GRE寫作:帶著鐐銬起舞
尼采曾說:
Dancing in all its forms cannot be excluded from the curriculum of allnoble education: dancing with the feet, with ideas, with works, and, need I addthat one must also be able to dance with the pen?
誠如尼采所言,好的教育應包含舞蹈:用腳跳舞,用思想跳舞,用言語跳舞,無需說,還需用筆跳舞 。他所描繪的是最為理想的知識獲取狀態,也就是不僅熟悉了知識,掌握了知識,更是熟練運用知識駕馭知識 。這當然最好不過,但也要應情況而定 。
在筆者蔡蔡看來,GRE教學,旨在在短期內幫助學生提分,那么教師所扮演的角色實則為編舞,帶領學生一起帶著鐐銬(讀懂評分標準)翩翩起舞(精產優質作文),而非無章法可循(盲目亂刷題庫),群魔亂舞(批量劣質作文) 。也就是雖然要有一定的靈活度來演繹知識的魅力,更要切切實實有一些可復制可運用的內容 。只有這樣,考生才能有方向所尋,有內容可做,最后才能有分數所獲 。
GRE寫作中的鐐銬
官方指南所給的Issue部分的成文“鐐銬”
1. Articulates a clear and insightful position on the issue in accordancewith the assigned task
2. Develops the position fully with compelling reason and/or persuasiveexamples
3. Sustains a well-focused, well-organized analysis, connecting ideaslogically

一言以蔽之,高分Issue要立場明確、有理有據、邏輯嚴密、語言多樣、規范正式 。

簡言之,高分Argument要找準槽點、充分駁斥、嚴密連貫、語言多樣、規范正式 。
鐐銬之下,如何起舞?
Issue:排除槽點,讓別人無槽可吐首先,Issue分析的話題涉及的領域很廣泛,而考生們的知識儲備量有限 。所以,如果還有充裕的時間來準備GRE考試的話,一定要常看外報外刊如Economist、Times、NewYorker、Business Review,或者是像National Geography、Discovery這樣的節目,從而拓展詞匯量和背景知識儲備 。
其次,ETS在6分標準中提到的持續對話題進行有見地的(insightful)、深入的(in-depth)分析卻需要真功夫,何為真功夫?其實就是考生的獨立思考能力和批判性思維能力 。GRE寫作對寫作立場傾向沒有限制,可以支持反對,還可以中立,重在從自己的觀點出發,批判性地展開分析 。此外,有了觀點和素材后,一定要充分展開,就好比是剝洋蔥,層層剝開,有理有據,而非泛泛而談,要構建好邏輯因果鏈條,從而完成一篇讓人看到非常信服的Issue,不要漏洞百出,引人吐槽 。
Argument:找別人的茬,讓別人無茬可找Argument的內容涉及到天南海北,但是核心錯誤相對固定,因此可以以錯誤類型來分類或者按照題目指令分類 。在174道Argument題庫中,很多題目的基本表述是一樣的(即論證過程是完全一樣的),但是有不同的指令,如果沒有完成具體的指令,即使文章寫的很好,最高也只能得4分 。因此,建議考生一定要讀清楚指令 。考試時間只有30分鐘,Argument題干信息一般都比較長,所以功夫花在平時,對題目熟悉的話,就可以減少讀題時間,而盡可能地多花時間在寫作上 。
Argument當然也可以選擇加強,而非削弱,但考試時間有限,通常Argument都寫成駁論文,也就是找茬 。
領舞者(教師)的角色扮演
在筆者蔡蔡看來,從GRE寫作備課到上課再到課后跟進,老師扮演著不同的角色,進行著角色扮演 。在備課時,要把自己想象成是學生Put myself atthe position of thestudents 。上課時,尤其是輸出項教學,以學生為導向上課時,老師應該將演講者lecturer的角色轉變為一個指導者instructor或者是facilitator,要以學生為中心,給學生們多一些思考空間和練習的機會Putthe students to experience the learningprocess 。課后跟進時,教師扮演的角色更像是一個監控者monitor和百事通resource,密切關注學生的學習過程,在學生遇到問題時給予適當的幫助,Putthe emphasis on students' practice 。
GRE寫作實則是場舞林大會,不論是穿著水晶鞋的公主,還是赤腳起舞的王子;不論是身穿華服美衣的貴族,還是身著粗布爛衫的平民,只要戴好鐐銬(讀懂評分標準),掌握要領(把握得分要點),用心彩排(合理練習寫作)皆可舞出自己的炫彩(收獲理想的GRE寫作分數) 。
GRE作文范文:審查的公正性
Censorship is rarely, if ever, justified.
GRE作文范文參考:
“Censorship” is a word which seems to be authoritative rather thandemocratic, which implies the will of the governors rather than the will ofgeneral people. Since the occurrence of the censorship, which could be tracedback to the Ancient Rome, it has been playing an important part in the domesticaffairs while arousing applause and condemnation as well. Here the ourgovernment faces a dilemma, is it fair to carry on the censorship at the cost ofsacrificing part of democracy, or just open the gate letting flows of ideas andthoughts in, at the risk of losing its own rampart.
Since censorship suggest an act of changing or suppressing speech, writingor any other forms of expression that is condemned as subversive of the commongood, it must have a close relationship with the one who applies suchsupervision, and the word “common good” should be redefined under differentconditions. There is time when we were all under a powerful monarchy, and the“common good” is the “monarch good”, then the censorship itself is theinstrument of the monarch which solely depended on the will of the monarch; inthe Middle Ages, both the Roman Catholic and the Protestant Churches practicedcensorship that seemed to be oppressive to any ideas challenging the doctrinesof churches and the existence of God; even now, in some authoritative countries,the censorship is used to rule its people by restricting their minds, of course,for the stability of their governing over the people. With these regards,censorship itself is questioned at the rationality of existing, regardless ofthe practices made by the democratic government, while the justice of thedemocratic government is quite doubtable.
The matter concerning is not only who practices the censorship but also howit is practiced. Since different men make different comments on the same work ofart, for example, it is hard to set up a measure by which we could decidewhether one should be prohibited, especially to the work of arts, as its contentalways labeled as “subversive” and “revolutionary”, two words detested by thegovernors most. Such cases could be found in Ulysses by J. Joyce and LadyChatterley’s Lover by D.H Lawrence, these two great novels were firstlyconsidered to be guilty of obscenity and were put to prohibition by the Americangovernment, but turned out to be true masterpieces today. So any form ofcensorship, to some extent, lags behind the development of ideas and will putmore or less a negative effect on their development.
Though the censorship is such a disgusting word embodying so muchoppression and might, it is a compromise we made with the reality far from beingperfect, to provide a comparative stable ground which we could stand on. At thispoint, I don’t agree with the institute like ACLU who oppose any censorship. Thecensorship, though rarely justified, should exist as long as a more ideal andpractical form is found to replace it, or we could only expect our God to createa more ideal species instead of imperfect human beings.
