參考范文:
Nowadays, the expanding influence of news media on the society has been aheated social issue in debate. Some believe this trend is negative because themedia controls minds of the public. Personally, I partially agree with thisview, and my reasons will be explored as below.
The most worrying aspect of new media is that it overwhelms people’s dailylives. Actually, our lives of today are news-oriented, because of the 24-hournonstop news cycles on TV, radio and Internet. Under such news bombardment, theinformation overload takes place, which means people’s attentions and minds haveto be glued to focusing on and interpreting endless news, comments, gossips andrumors, necessary and unnecessary, no matter where they are, in workplaces, schools, buses or homes. As a result, news media is a huge distraction, whichmakes people exhausted and reduces their concentration and energy on their tasksor families.
Another big concern of news media is about its roles in manipulatingpeople’s thoughts. Psychologically speaking, watching news media is a strongprocess of washing brain, in which the personal judgments of individual viewersmight be removed and replaced with the media-established ideas. For example, forthe purpose of politics, many influential newspapers, TV programs and onlinewebsites disclose the foibles of privacy, and even deliberately fabricate falserumors, scandals to diminish some political candidates in an election.Obviously, the cheatings and lies on news media are detrimental to the socialequity and democracy, because they keep voters from thinking freely andindependently.
However, the positive impact news media bring to our lives can never beignored. In fact, the exposure to these news and reports can give the audiencevaluable messages and suggestions in day-to-day life. For example, theinformation about forecasts of weather and traffic situations in rush hours onregional newspapers or radio channels can instruct local residents to makeproper schedules, plans and routers for travelling outside. In addition, reportsabout pressing social problems like epidemics, natural disasters, violence andcrimes in streets also help to arouse the public’s awareness of the importanceof improving education and health care systems, as well as the necessity ofsaving environment.
In conclusion, the demerits caused by news media override its benefits forthe public. Although it can provide useful and practical information to theaudience, it influences people in more negative ways, including an unbalancedlife due to addiction in news, as well as the misunderstanding about socialissues.
雅思寫作范文:過于保護動物
Task:Some people argue that too much attention and too many resources aregiven to the protection of wild animals and birds. To what extent do you agree ordisagree?
Sample answer:
In recent years, animal protection has become an issue of concern. Peopletake different attitudes towards the increasing attention and expenditure onwildlife conservation. Some people suggest that the spending should beredirected to helping other fields in society. I agree with the view that theinvestment in wildlife protection is not worthwhile.
Animals, as a key component of the whole food chain, have a profound impacton the sustainability of an ecosystem. As we known, every kind of animals playsan important role in natural balance. For instance, the demise of any specieswill lead to the growth or decline of other species. In some extreme cases, somespecies may at the verge of extinction such as Dodo bird. If people did not takeactions to protect wildlife as soon as possible, we humans would be affected inthe end.
However, there are more issues that we need to focus in our society ratherthan protecting animals. In current social context, the primary task is still toimprove living standards since there are many people living under the povertyline. Only when people are in a good living condition, can they pay attention toother social problems. Besides, technology and education are another two aspectsof governments to concern. These two industries accelerate the development ofsociety, which will provide a better protection for wildlife in turn.
In conclusion, although the animal is a significant part of ecosystem, itis better for governments to invest more finance and resources in other socialproblems.
